Ahhhhh… doesn’t it feel good to just breathe:)

July 21, 2008

Meg and I had a chance to take a quick break this weekend and head to Whistler and it was great! Good weather, great atmosphere and a gimpy husband:). The gimpy husband was only good for the reason that we weren’t able to do a bunch of stuff that would have worn us out:). Below are some images from our time away. Look it’s a personal blog, don’t tell
the professional blogging world what I’ve done. Enjoy!

This was the view from our room… how cool is that? What you see is the Blackcomb and Whistler Gondola’s and the dirt in the middle left is the mountain bike course. We saw some amazing mountain biking going on!

canada_eh.jpg

We took the Whistler Gondola and the Peak Chair and it was like being on top of the world!

Shhh, don’t tell anyone but that’s me with a Canon in my hands, doh!

canada_eh-5.jpg

When I got off the peak chair I knew exactly how I wanted to capture the Inukshuk sculpture. Here it is. I have a few more with lense flair but this was really the one I wanted!

I have to be honest and say Meg has a knack for lookin good! Have you met Meg, she’s frickin awesome!

canada_eh-9.jpg

Everyone’s doing it…

canada_eh-10.jpg

canada_eh-11.jpg

I’m holding a flash in one hand and taking the picture with another… I’m thinking I should try doing this as a job:)

canada_eh-12.jpg

We spent some time at the Olympic Village and checked out the ski jump… A picture wouldn’t do justice to how big this landing pad is… Until I stuck Meg in front of it, she’s in the lower right corner. Those guys and gals literally fly.

canada_eh-13.jpg

How could we pass up an opportunity to try it ourselves? They should have a tourist trap here, where anyone could look like they are flying.

canada_eh-14.jpg

canada_eh-15.jpg

Meg snagged this awesome shot of another Inukshuk, these sculptures are pretty cool.

canada_eh-16.jpg

And of course it’s the summer of the brown Black Bear. This was a cute little cub. He wouldn’t let Meg hug him - weird!

A quick break, for the two of us:)

July 19, 2008

This is just a quick note that Meg and I won’t be able to respond to voicemail or email until later on Monday the 21st.    I think it was back in November we decided this would be about mid-summer and we would need to take a weekend off so we could stay fresh for all of you second half weddings:).  I hope everyone has a great weekend and I’m sure you’ll see photos on the blog from this weekend soon.

An Affair at Tail Skid Meadows

July 14, 2008

Meg and I have had many opportunities to photograph at D’lightful Celebrations at Tail Skid Meadows. One constant seems to be the weather. Not to jinx it or anything but the view of Mt. Baker from this property is phenomenal and we can’t get enough of it. This last Saturday we had the great opportunity to photograph Alison and Dan and it was such a beautiful day! I think they nailed a perfect combination of extravagant and rustic! Congrats to you two and enjoy these teasers!

Seriously this summer just keeps getting better and better…

July 7, 2008

It was a short time ago I was blogging about this couples engagement session and their wedding day arrived quickly. Kylie and Ryan were a pleasure to work with (as were their families and friends). It was a perfect overcast day and a lot of fun. I think the theme this summer should be fantastic clients and fun. Meg and I have had a blast this last month diving into these weddings. Back to this wedding. Kylie and Ryan were for up for pretty much anything and we had a great time getting all kinds of great images. I kind of felt like at the end of the day we could have built a pretty good portfolio for a our business just from this wedding. Alright, I think I changed my mind. The theme of each wedding this summer is ‘The Portfolio”. That’s how great it has been:). Enjoy the images and you two have a great time in Alaska!

The local Ice Cream shop in Coupeville let the two of them have the ice cream of their choice.  It was awesome!

Below was a beautiful moment in which Ryan followed Jesus’ lead and washed Kylie’s feet.

That’s right, they called this the ’Red Neck Groom’s Cake’.  It had Twinkies, Cupcakes and Swiss Rolls.  Topped off the by the parents cake topper from 35 years ago.  I love it!

Peyton’s getting a jump on it, for a good cause!

July 3, 2008

Meg and I met up with Peyton and had a great time. She is doing some early Senior Photos because she is planning on cutting her hair to donate it to Locks of Love. How cool is that? Enjoy the photos!

Okay the heat caught up with us on this one, but it was so beautiful!

July 1, 2008

So Friday wasn’t too warm, but Saturday everyone was feeling the heat:). It was a gorgeous summer day at a gorgeous venue! Samantha and Jesse got married at D’lightful Celebrations at Tail Skid Meadows. Regardless of the crazy weather, everyone made the best of the day and it turned out awesome! Baker was out in all of it’s glory and party was hoppin late into the night. Enjoy the photos!

Couldn’t help stealing Sam and Jesse for a couple shots with Mt. Baker as beautiful as it was.

This such a beautiful venue and the receptions are held in a small airplane hangar.

Phew… Just missed the heat on this day!

Rachel and Austin had a beautiful Friday evening wedding. We started at Lairmont Manor and continued on to their church for the ceremony and reception. We had a great time with everyone involved in this wedding and that was a lot of people:). It was neat to see the church community come together to support and help this couple to have a beautiful wedding day and it turned out to be just that. Congrats to the two of you! Enjoy!

I don’t know a whole lot about the tradition but Rachel and Austin had a mini bride and groom and they were adorable!

aaaaahh, Deep breath everyone, Summer is here!

June 25, 2008

Saturday was pretty muggy, but Sunday was a very nice sunny day.  Summer is officially off to a nice start!  Bethany and Ed picked a great location for their outdoor wedding.  If you haven’t seen Evergreen Gardens, it’s exactly as it sounds.  Green and beautiful.  And nothing like a beautiful couple to top off the day!  It was a fun family affair that everyone seemed to really enjoy!  Congrats to you two!

Ed was so fun to watch as he just couldn’t stand not being able to see Bethany for the first time.

bethedblog_0001.jpg

Here Ed got a hold the ol’ camera, did some photographing of his own.

bethedblog_0003.jpg

I was thinking about it and I don’t do many blogs about the actual wedding ceremony…  So here is a series of Ed and Bethany’s ceremony -

Let the fun continue… All summer long!

June 24, 2008

Meg and I have been pretty excited for this wedding for some time. For many reasons - First is just that we really liked Scott and Allison, they are two fantastic people, second is that it was a referral wedding from another great couple Ann Marie and Seth (It was great to see you both!), third is that we were able to help in picking some of the other vendors involved in the wedding:). We called it the “dream team” and it was fantastic. Okay so I have lot’s of photos to share so I will get to those and continue to share a long the way… Enjoy!

This was a fun opportunity to get a cool photo of all the guests and a neat image of Hollywood School House.

They had a blast with their first dance. Looks like the practice time above paid off:).

alscblog_0013.jpg

A little fun with the Lensbaby.

Pushing the camera a little bit to get this cool sky during the reception.

alscblog_0015.jpg

A fun group shot of most of us vendors and Allison (Bride). Next to me is Jessica of Bella Musica and on the far right is Kaycee Parker of Parker Events. Not pictured is the florist Laura Straight, the one and only Floralaura. If you are planning a wedding definitely check them all out and of course I know some pretty amazing photographers you could talk to as well:).

alscblog_0016.jpg

If you want to see Meg dance to Footloose - You’ll need to hire Bella Musica and Evantide Photography:).

alscblog_0017.jpg

Okay last story. When I first met with Allison and Scott about photographing their wedding, one of the first things I said to them as a joke was -

“Thank you so much for throwing me a birthday party”

Well they have a good memory and surprised me in front of all of their guests with a personal cake for my birthday and everyone sang to me. Ahh, if I wasn’t 6′3″ I totally would have tried to hide. You two are so awesome and thoughtful, thanks for the super chocolatey cake (Meg and I are still working on it:).
