Be A Giver – ‘Get Hitched Give Hope’ Portraits

2 September 2010 | 11:54 pm

First of all, I can’t believe we’ve arrived in the month of September, yikes.  Summer is fading fast and I’m not ready:-).  I’m also excited because we tend to have mild beautiful weather in September and so far that’s held true in the last couple of days!

Okay, so here’s the deal, I have many friends who are working on an event in Seattle called Get Hitched Give Hope.  It’s an uber swanky event in Seattle where wedding vendors have offered their services but the catch is that all the proceeds go ‘To grant wishes to stage 4 breast cancer patients for whom the cure can’t come soon enough.’  What an amazing opportunity, right?  Well if you are getting married or want to attend the event, definitely follow the link as I place it all over this post! :-)

I was chatting with a couple of the organizers of the event and they are all set with their vendors that will be offering their wedding services for the auction… But Meg and I still wanted to help!  So with a some creative help from the GHGH ladies we came up with a plan, and here it is:

—–>>>>>For the month of September we’ll be doing our portrait sessions for a discounted rate starting at $200 and of that $200 we’ll be giving $50 to Get Hitched Give Hope!  Meg and I really believe this to be such a worthy cause and we are so excited to be able to help in any way we can.  So give us a call or send us an email and set up your portrait session today.  We do Families, Maternity, Babies, Children, Seniors, Musicians, Headshots, Pet’s…  I’ve attached some samples from the last few months to kind of give a taste of what we’ve been up to.  Enjoy and get a hold of us soon to set up a session!

Thanks to all the peops of GHGH for putting this event on and inspiring us to get involved as well.  If you haven’t followed one of the links yet, here it is again:-).

Sally and John – Seattle Weddiing Photography

31 August 2010 | 10:08 pm

I know, I know, I say it a lot but it’s true…  Meg and I had an absolute blast at Sally and John’s wedding!!  These two love each other and we really loved them, not to mention that great banter we had going back and forth all day!  You may remember them from this shoot.  If you do, you would also remember the fact that they are all personality and it’s awesome!  They are diving instructors, which is pretty cool, Meg and I don’t really want to learn how to dive but are thinking about paying them for the lessons just so we can hang out some more!

They had a beautiful wedding at Ray’s Boathouse in Seattle.  It was totally a perfect Seattle summer wedding with gorgeous views of the water and mountains and of course great people!  Congrats to you both and enjoy this preview…  John, are you ready?

You may remember Kelly and Austin from their engagement session here.  After that shoot, the Pacific Northwest could have thrown us pretty much any weather and we would have shown it what’s up!  It ended up being a beautiful day and what an amazing crew of friends and family that was there to love and support Kelly and Austin as they tied the knot!  These two had so much fun with their theme and so did we:-).  Hello romantic garden wedding!

Are you wondering where Meg found this amazing surface for this ring shot?

Yep… Meg is good:-).  Nice. It’s fun to look around an ordinary kitchen and utilize this great stove fore the shot above! Secret is out!

Yep, spurs!  Woot.

Meg found some amazing light…

Bam!

We had a blast with this old Volvo.

Bam:-)!

Fun little collaboration with Kelly to get this next shot.  I love when that happens.

I couldn’t have planned or set up this up any better… They ran off to hide and celebrate alone for a moment.  Loved it!

Double Barrel BBQ, so good!

Kelly and Austin wanted a photo booth.  We made it a little less boothy and Kelly’s dad brought bunches of goods from his amazing prop studio.  Nice.  I’ll have to do a post on those shots sometime soon:-).

Austin had personalized cuff links made for each of his ‘dudes’.  So cool!

This light was soo amazing!!

Kelly serenaded.

I love our job!!

25 August 2010 | 2:30 am

We really value the time, energy, and experience that an engagement session brings to a soon to be married couple!  But after it’s said and done, we’ve had this great time getting awesome photos – what is the next step?? What do you do with these images?  Well – I’d like to share a few ideas for you and show you what some clients have already done!

Guestbook Images – See below!

Canvas’

Present them in a slideshow at the wedding

Display them at your reception – Brandon and Abbie

Use them at the welcome/gift table

I have yet to see t-shirts – but the day will come!

This is Brandon and Jessica’s Guest Sign In Album!  The were married this past month at Newcastle! Congratulations to them!!!

The album is designed for extra space for the guests to write a little note to the couple!

This next engagement photo was used at the Gift Table!  How cool is that??  Shout out to Micah and Julie!!

Welcome Amir – Seattle Newborn Photography

23 August 2010 | 2:33 pm

Okay, so the crazy thing is that you’ve already met Amir at about 1.5 days old in this post (check out the last photo).  But we couldn’t resist doing an actual session as well.  Jennifer and Feras had us over to their place and we had a great time reconnecting and photographing, of course:-).  Amir was a very cooperative sleeper, but I’m going to put it out there and say he wasn’t such a cooperative poser… let it begin Jennifer:-).   It was great to see you at the wedding and even more fun to be able to catch up some more during the shoot and get to know Amir.  Congratulations and enjoy this preview:-).

Home, ahhh.

I can only imagine how hilarious Amir’s going to be if his personality is a combination of these two:-).

David + Melanie – Tail Skid Meadows Wedding Photography

17 August 2010 | 1:23 pm

I know I say it a lot but we have amazing and fun clients… Seriously, all of them!!  Dave and Melanie were a blast to work with.  They were game for our ideas and had some of there own as we captured their wedding.  It was a beautiful ceremony, day and a great party!  Congrats to you both and enjoy this preview!

Recipe for Success:

Venue: Tailskid Meadows

Hair/Makeup: Erin Hunt – She’s new to the Seattle area and rocks!!  If you’re a Seattle Bride and need a fun, efficient stylist – give her a call!

Flowers: New Leaf

Caterer: Taste of Elegance

Cake: La Vie En Rose Bakery

Gown: Alicia’s Bridal

Photographer: Evantide Photography

Fun.

I don’t think I completely understand the desire that Melanie and Dave have for jumping up and down together but they do it well:-).

More jumping… of course.

It was a special moment when Melanie’s grandpa and father were able to walk her down the aisle.

This is where Meg is multi talented – she is totally crying happy tears and shooting at the same time :-)

Trees became a theme almost by accident for these two but they ran with it and it turned into something special.  Including this tree planting ceremony.   I love this image of Melanie and Dave tossing on the work gloves:-)!!

You might think this is an amazing little moment where eagles and doves flew and…. nope, a jet was flying over as Melanie was about to start her vows.  But if you want to create another unique situation in your head, that’ll work as well:-).

The ladies of Tailskid!  Lookin’ lovely and hosting a great party as always!

Lovin’ the shoes!

Whitney and Ian – Bellingham Wedding Photography

13 August 2010 | 1:25 pm

I will describe Whitney and Ian as planners and champions!  When Whitney chose the date she did her homework, it hadn’t rained in 11 years.  And now on to them being champs!  It rained, and quite a lot for the last weekend in July.  Ian and Whitney didn’t let it get them down – they had a blast!  Even amidst the crazy weather it really was a beautiful day!  Congrats to you both and enjoy this little preview:-).

The men.

Whitney was so expressive and excited about all that was going on, all day.  We loved it!

Beautiful setting in both directions!

You may kiss your bride!

Ian had his best man, Sam capture Ian’s proposal and didn’t tell Whitney until she received this album the day leading up to and into the proposal.  It was really great!

Roles were changed a bit from this shot:-).

The rain swiftly arrived so the tents were pushed together and everyone squeezed underneath.  It was kind of a fun moment while they watched the toasts.

I’m pretty sure Ian was trying to give me some photographic advice.  Or he may have just been telling me which button to push.

I told them to kiss and hide behind the flowers.  he he, caught ya:-).

You can leave your congrats and comments below:-)

Sabrina + Jason – What we do for fun:-)

12 August 2010 | 1:08 pm

After our wedding at Cave B and handing Grant off to Grandpa and Grandama’s several times.  We were due to stop for a couple days.  Some call it a weekend, we call it a vacation, lol:-).  So, we headed to Lake Chelan.  One of the first evenings we were there, we went to the lake with camera in tow (go figure:-).  We saw a young guy with a camera bag and bouquet of flowers, he was walking around and looked a little nervous…  So we asked him what he was up to and he said he was getting married.  Well the next obvious step was to approach him (Jason) and ask if he wanted us to capture some images for him.  Jason agreed so we headed over and met his bride Sabrina:-).  So they stepped ankle deep into the lake and got married.  It was a beautiful night and such a fun surprise for us to be able to do some shooting.  Congratulations Jason and Sabrina, enjoy this preview!
