Be A Giver – ‘Get Hitched Give Hope’ Portraits

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

First of all, I can’t believe we’ve arrived in the month of September, yikes.  Summer is fading fast and I’m not ready:-).  I’m also excited because we tend to have mild beautiful weather in September and so far that’s held true in the last couple of days!

Okay, so here’s the deal, I have many friends who are working on an event in Seattle called Get Hitched Give Hope.  It’s an uber swanky event in Seattle where wedding vendors have offered their services but the catch is that all the proceeds go ‘To grant wishes to stage 4 breast cancer patients for whom the cure can’t come soon enough.’  What an amazing opportunity, right?  Well if you are getting married or want to attend the event, definitely follow the link as I place it all over this post! :-)

I was chatting with a couple of the organizers of the event and they are all set with their vendors that will be offering their wedding services for the auction… But Meg and I still wanted to help!  So with a some creative help from the GHGH ladies we came up with a plan, and here it is:

—–>>>>>For the month of September we’ll be doing our portrait sessions for a discounted rate starting at $200 and of that $200 we’ll be giving $50 to Get Hitched Give Hope!  Meg and I really believe this to be such a worthy cause and we are so excited to be able to help in any way we can.  So give us a call or send us an email and set up your portrait session today.  We do Families, Maternity, Babies, Children, Seniors, Musicians, Headshots, Pet’s…  I’ve attached some samples from the last few months to kind of give a taste of what we’ve been up to.  Enjoy and get a hold of us soon to set up a session!

Thanks to all the peops of GHGH for putting this event on and inspiring us to get involved as well.  If you haven’t followed one of the links yet, here it is again:-).

Melanie + Dave – Bellingham Engagement Photography

Dave and Melanie – where do we start with these two?  They are such a perfect compliment to each other!  Back when they were only dating – 3 months into dating, at that – Melanie got a glimpse of what the “In sickness and in health” clause was all about!  Dave had gotten into an accident out at Northwest Fields playing rec soccer.  Two talented, competitive grown men sprinting at each other and a soccer ball in the air will most likely always end in a trip in the ambulance.  Dave’s family lives on the east coast, and Dave was in need of help.  In comes sweet Melanie!  And she’s stuck by his side!!  Next month – they will be getting married at one of our favorite venues in the county – Tail Skid Meadows!

This shoot was a blast!  We started in good ‘ol Bellingham and then headed down to her grandpas 40 acres in Skagit County!  It was incredibly gorgeous – but also a trip down memory lane which we got to share in the memories!

Dave and Melanie – thanks for having us! There are soooo many more images we want to post!  Enjoy these for now :-)

We are off to celebrate another wedding today – yeah Brandon and Abbie!  But we wanted to keep sharing these shoots with you!  Enjoy!

This next one is straight out of camera!  And I LOVE IT!!!!

Evantide – The Business Side

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Not only are we visual people as far as photographing people and our other subjects… but I looked over from my desk today and saw how Meg prepared for us to hand off our many shoots and jobs from this last week and a half and it made me laugh.  We are visual people in general.  She had lined up all of our shoots and jobs so that we can see, send off and check off the list each job in order.  I had to take a photo and it got me thinking – I haven’t talked enough about two things:

1.  Beautiful canvases that we can get done for you of the images we capture.  These photos don’t begin to do justice the awesomeness and beauty of these works of art!

2.  Our friends at Bison Letter Press that did all of our material that we hand off to our clients.  They did such amazing work with our Business Cards, Greeting Cards, Disc Sleeves, and Handle Bags.  I’ll need to do a post that really shows off their work.  Thanks guys!

This is what I turned and saw.  Funny and photographable:-).

If you see your name on one of those green envelopes… Yep, that means we’re just finishing up your photos, whoo hoo!

Danielle and Todd – Qwest Field Engagement Shoot

Monday, June 21st, 2010

This was certainly a memorable shoot for us – not that all shoots aren’t memorable, but c’mon!! We were on the pitch at Qwest!!

These two are such a fun pair to be around!  Danielle and Todd are both heavily immersed in soccer!  They both coach club soccer teams in the greater Seattle area.  Their summer consists of coaching, tournaments, working and eating!  Oh, and their season tickets to the Sounders!  Reasons why we love them: “One request: Please don’t call between 11-1 on Saturday because we will be watching USA in the World Cup!!!”  These are our kind of people!

Aaron and I set up the shoot to be at Qwest Field.  Huge shout out to the Qwest Field staff!  Thanks Paula! You rock!!  Going into the shoot, we really had the mindset of ‘Yes, we’re shooting! But let’s also enjoy this!”  I mean, who doesn’t want to be down where the Freddy’s play? I know I do!!! :-)   After Qwest, we hit up the Sculpture Park just down the road!  What a unique place to be!

Danielle and Todd – we are so incredibly excited for your wedding in October!  Thanks for sharing this adventure with us!!

~Megs

Aaron is only 31 years old in this shot :-)   He is now 32!!! Love that guy!

What he sees!

Aaron, seriously!! Get up!! This is serious business!!

Oh, I see what you’re doing! Got it!

Danielle and Todd in their season ticket seats!!

I promise you that Danielle and Todd are in the following photo!!! Look hard!! Hint: Lower left!

Thanks for looking!! ~Megs

Nic + Stefanie – Bellingham Wedding Photography

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

If we are photographing your wedding, an engagement session is a part of the deal!  If you are interested in our services be sure to ask us why every wedding client gets an engagement session and I think it will really help you understand how we work as a company.

Stefanie and Nic needed no time to warm up during this session.  We were off to the races right from the get go and it was so much fun!  I have this ‘joke’ with a lot of people that – if you suggest a pose or photo… we’re probably going to do it.  Stefanie tended to forget the rule and every time she would suggest something (to be funny or in all seriousness) you saw Nic get this look of ‘oh great he’s going to make us do it’.  It was so hilarious!  But on the other hand sometimes our ideas get the same reaction of ‘is he really going to make us do this?’.   Those are fun as well:-).  Alright, enough about us and our crazy antics, let’s get to the photos.

Here’s an example of going for a suggestion… And we got this fun shot!

Do what I gotta do to get the shot, ha.  I promise that this time I wasn’t napping :-) .

Worth it for this shot!

I generally try not to over process my images and that is our style, but sometimes it’s fun to see what we can do.  I like the HDR feel of these.

Sally + John – Seattle Engagement Photographer

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

When we were planning John and Sally’s engagement session, they brought up that their family had a cabin on Bainbridge.  And we were game for shooting there.  Any chance we can get to go on the ferry, we’re good for that (po’mans cruise as we like to call it).  As you’ll probably be able to tell, we had a blast and are really looking forward to the wedding day!  Alright, more pictures, less words!

I’ll start and end with a ferry shot.  Coming and Going!

Hey, Sally and John both seemed to be having a good time.  This cabin… Was awesome!  From this porch…

…you get this view.  Such a cool perspective!

*If you are a potential client looking to hire us please stop listening here*.  We have this rule for shoots.  If you suggest it?  We are definitely going to photograph it and eventually name it:-).

We call this ‘middle school dance’.

We call this – ‘hey, we can do this all day!’

These next few are just beautiful… I think!

Meg bringing it in tight!

So worth it.

This may seem like a simple ‘hey you two… hold hands and jump’, but it’s really not!  We often refer to our engagement sessions as marriage counseling.  These stunts aren’t nearly as easy as they seem:-).

Dude, epic.

Like I said early on.  Start and finish on the ferry.

This post brought to you by the kind readers who comment on this blogtivity!  Yep, just made that one up.

Colin + Danielle – Bellingham Wedding Photography

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

With all of this crazy weather we’ve had to cancel and postpone some shoots and a couple times the weather still turned out great.  Welcome to the Pacific Northwest I guess:-).   About an hour before this shoot started it was raining like no other and I thought about calling and cancelling but I didn’t and I’m so glad.  We had a mostly dry shoot and had a great time.  Congrats to you both and we are looking forward to your wedding next month!

Meg got me again!

Whatcha think?  We love reading your comments!
