Sister Get Together | Ka’anapali Family Photography

Meg here Just getting back from Maui where we had such an amazing opportunity to meet and shoot these gorgeous sisters!! With every event that we are hired to capture, it really is such an honor and privilege!! They definitely made our job ridiculously easy:-). These beautiful sisters in this beautiful setting, seriously? They stayed at the Aston Ka’anapali Shores Resort so we were able to hang out there and then we just headed straight down to the beach for some shots with the sunset.

I’ve never had a sister – but these gals made me want one!!! Nicole, your daughters amazing, way to go!!

I think this is where we asked for the ‘J Crew’ look, nailed it!!

Grants, Golf Lessons and Maui’s Finest!!

On our recent trip to Maui (above). We happened to be there at the same time as the PGA’s kick off tournament, The Tournament of Champions. Well we weren’t comfortable taking Grant to the official event but we decided to trek up the Kapalua’s Plantation course for the Pro-Am event. We saw a couple of golfers and a little bit of the event, but that wasn’t the highlight. The highlight was meeting David Havens. David is one of the pros at Ka’anapali Kai and more importantly he started a cool program called ‘Spare for Change‘. In the fan zone at the event, there were a couple different little area’s where all three of us could try out our golf swings, putting and even get a photo taken with a trophy. Golf Pro David was manning the area where you could try out your chipping prowess. We rolled up with Grant and he looked a little disappointed that he didn’t have any toddler size clubs. So he gave him a quick little lesson with the smallest club he had and then after asking if Grant had his own clubs offered this, ‘hey if you swing by the Ka’anapali, I can set you up with a couple of his very own clubs’. How cool is that? So when we arrived, David set him up with a toddler sized putter and some balls and sent us up to the practice green while he made another club for him. He met up with us handed Grant his own ‘grant sized’ Callaway Big Bertha and sent us off to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls on him. David was so generous and really made a memorable impact on Grant. Thanks David and all the best in your venture to put clubs and the game of golf in the hands of those that can’t otherwise have access to the game. You are awesome!!

Grant giving his new driver a swing! One of my most treasured gifts from my late grandpa is a Big Bertha golf club and I thought it was pretty neat that one of Grants first golf clubs was a Big Bertha as well!

Yes!! Less than two weeks until Saturday’s with Santa!! Which means some of the most fun we have all year and some of the most tired we’ll be all year (when we’re done:-). It is so fun to partner with Industrial Credit Union for our fourth year in a row to offer free Santa photos. Yep, that’s right… Free Santa Photo!! In the last three years many families have made us their must do activity as a pre-funk to Christmas.

As parents we are also excited for Grant to be able to get a shot with Santa as well:-). Here’s an outtake from last year. He was hesitant to be in Santa’s lap but boy was he comfy and cozy.

I feel like it’s safe to dub this next one ‘Best Santa Photo Ever’. Perfection, lol.

And these next two? Happiest kids to be in Santas lap. I’m so excited for the Christmas season to be here. Can’t wait to see y’all!!

I can’t believe it’s already that time of year again!! Halloween is in a week!! The last two years we have hosted a fun time for parents to bring their children to our home for photos of their kiddos in cute lil costumes. Although we have had this on Halloween in years past, we will be doing these photos on Saturday October 29th. This way you can not only swing by our studio downtown but also enjoy the downtown Bellingham trick or treating from business to business. Here are the details:

Cost: Not Free:-) - In order to get a photo taken, we ask that you bring a donation that will be given to the Lighthouse Mission.

We were thinking $10, but they can really use our help if you want to donate more.

All in all we just want to host a fun time and capture some great images of your cute kiddos:-).

We’ll be capturing the images in the studio and they will be made available for download on Sunday the 30th. Here is a taste, a few photos from the last two years of Halloween photos. Good times and we look forward to seeing you all Saturday!!

Welcome to Evantide Photography – Our Studio Open House

The last month has been a crazy one… topped off Friday by an amazing evening!! On top of having a bunches and bunches of fun shoots Meg and I have moved Evantide into our new digs! Whoo hoo. Big thanks to Nathaniel Wilson for coming in and getting us painted and Anna Kuttel for her design help with our Wedding Premiere space!! Okay back to the evening:-). Last Friday, Meg (Grant) and I hosted an open house in order to begin introducing our new space to our friends, family and amazing clients. Throughout the evening we had about 100 visitors and one of our favorite parts of the evening is that most people didn’t just walk through but they took time to hang out a bit and visit (we loved that!!). It’s exactly how we want the space to be, comfortable enough to entice you to sit down and have a soda or mocha with us:-). I was pretty intentional about not taking photos during the evening because I wanted to be free of the camera for the evening. Below are some images of different aspects of the space and of course we included some images of Megs amazing spread of refreshing food (mmm chocolate covered strawberries!!).

Very excited as this is our first blog post of our goals of 101 in 1001!!!

One last story. A few weeks ago I stopped by Lettered Streets Coffee and challenged Kjirstin. ‘So Kjirstin, do you think you can make latte art in the shape of Evantide’s logo?’ She thought about it and told me she would get back to me. I left and had been walking for only about a block when I received a text message from Kjirstin that said – ‘something like this?’ And yes it was latte art of our logo. How amazing talented and fast is she? So we picked a day for me to go visit and she did it again and had refined it even more and it was so awesome. I took a few photos of it and now it fits and sits perfectly on our coffee bar. Thank Kj for being amazing!!

Krissy was excited to get some updated photos of their family. Of course while we were together we got a couple of shots of the fam with Grants business van. We love capturing moments in time for families and this shoot was no different!! Family was coming together for a short time and they wanted to document it with images. Meg and I had the privilege of capturing these images for them. The weather was a little rough so we primarily shot indoors but they were troopers and headed down to Marine Park for a photo with my favorite tree:-)!!
