Be A Giver – ‘Get Hitched Give Hope’ Portraits

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

First of all, I can’t believe we’ve arrived in the month of September, yikes.  Summer is fading fast and I’m not ready:-).  I’m also excited because we tend to have mild beautiful weather in September and so far that’s held true in the last couple of days!

Okay, so here’s the deal, I have many friends who are working on an event in Seattle called Get Hitched Give Hope.  It’s an uber swanky event in Seattle where wedding vendors have offered their services but the catch is that all the proceeds go ‘To grant wishes to stage 4 breast cancer patients for whom the cure can’t come soon enough.’  What an amazing opportunity, right?  Well if you are getting married or want to attend the event, definitely follow the link as I place it all over this post! :-)

I was chatting with a couple of the organizers of the event and they are all set with their vendors that will be offering their wedding services for the auction… But Meg and I still wanted to help!  So with a some creative help from the GHGH ladies we came up with a plan, and here it is:

—–>>>>>For the month of September we’ll be doing our portrait sessions for a discounted rate starting at $200 and of that $200 we’ll be giving $50 to Get Hitched Give Hope!  Meg and I really believe this to be such a worthy cause and we are so excited to be able to help in any way we can.  So give us a call or send us an email and set up your portrait session today.  We do Families, Maternity, Babies, Children, Seniors, Musicians, Headshots, Pet’s…  I’ve attached some samples from the last few months to kind of give a taste of what we’ve been up to.  Enjoy and get a hold of us soon to set up a session!

Thanks to all the peops of GHGH for putting this event on and inspiring us to get involved as well.  If you haven’t followed one of the links yet, here it is again:-).

Welcome Amir – Seattle Newborn Photography

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Okay, so the crazy thing is that you’ve already met Amir at about 1.5 days old in this post (check out the last photo).  But we couldn’t resist doing an actual session as well.  Jennifer and Feras had us over to their place and we had a great time reconnecting and photographing, of course:-).  Amir was a very cooperative sleeper, but I’m going to put it out there and say he wasn’t such a cooperative poser… let it begin Jennifer:-).   It was great to see you at the wedding and even more fun to be able to catch up some more during the shoot and get to know Amir.  Congratulations and enjoy this preview:-).

Home, ahhh.

I can only imagine how hilarious Amir’s going to be if his personality is a combination of these two:-).

You can leave comments and congrats below:-).

Welcome Ciara – Seattle Newborn Photography

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Meg and I always like being able to visit with Colm and Tami but this visit was special because we had the opportunity to capture some images of lil’ Ciara.  I think she was just 5 days old when we did the shoot?  Perfect age for a newborn session.  They usually sleep 22 hours a day, so hey, if she’s awake the whole time we’re there and we’re there for three hours, we are guaranteed atleast an hour of her snoozing:-).  She was so beautiful and again I was so jealous of her hair.  Any baby with hair makes me jealous, can’t figure out why:-).  Alright, less typing and more photos.  Welcome Ciara, it was really great to meet you!

She even finished by flashing us a little smile!  So, cute!

A Growing Family – Bellingham Family Photographer

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

A lot has changed in the last few days for this family.  Lindsay contacted us to do a family photo session this last week knowing that they would have a lil kiddo arriving on Monday.  We have friends in the last month who have had kiddos arrive weeks ‘early’ and weeks ‘late’, and now a kiddo that arrived at her appointed time on Monday morning:-).

Congratulations Lindsay and Larry and we looking forward meeting and capturing some images of lil J next week!  Enjoy a few from this shoot for now:-).

These were the simpler times.

Last minute advice?  Words of encouragement?  Warnings?

Awesome.  If he had a Facebook page, this would be his profile photo, for sure!

Lindsay – you’re gorgeous!! Just sayin!  (This is Meg writing!)

A family of four.  I love this photo!

With a quick shutter speed I was able to capture this… but what was really going on was…

… this :-) .

We’d love to hear what you think?

Isabella Shalom – Bellingham Newborn Photography

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Many of our clients often become friends a long the way as we work to photograph images that capture a specific time in their life.  Other times we photograph family and friends so we start with a specific connection that is the foundation of our photo shoot.  With this next family (ha, even that is amazing to say:-) there is not only a special bond but an amazing connection for Meg and I personally.  We have been in a small group Bible study with Jenny and Charles for three years and much of that time was spent seeking God as these two amazing people desired and even yearned to see their family grow.  Jenny and Charles prayers were answered  this last week as they adopted their beautiful daughter Isabella Shalom.

What an amazing honor it was for Meg and I to be able to capture some images for this awesome family in this time.  In this time we couldn’t possibly describe their experience nearly as well as they could, so Meg asked Charles to write a few words -

“Isabella Shalom is embarking on a life abounding in love.  She has been the desire of our hearts for so long, and every moment now and evermore is cherished.  Thanks for helping us capture a few of those moments in a beautiful way.”  And off the record he wrote – “I always get 100% for cheese and emotion (I’ve cried happy tears at least twice a day for the last week and a half!)”.  I don’t think what he said was cheesy at all but it’s just another expression of how excited and joyful they are with the arrival of their daughter!

Congratulations to you both and welcome Isabella!!

I am so already jealous of her beautiful curls… and so is Grant, lol.

These next three are very ‘ahhhh’ moments for me:-)

She’s so precious!

The happy family.

This shot that Meg captured is one of my absolute favorites of all time.  Such a beautiful image with an amazingly beautiful little girl!  Well done Meg and again welcome lil Isabella!

We love reading whatcha think :-) .

Meg and I had so much fun with the Hillmans, doing a few studio and outdoor sets.  Little Ezra and Finley are so stinking cute.  One of the things I love about childrens photography is capturing their eyes.  As you can see from this post and Danielle in the post below:-).  Enjoy.

2009 In Portraits

Monday, January 4th, 2010

We had a uber fun portrait year in 2009.  Maybe part of it was that we have a kiddo of our own but I can’t get over all these cute faces and I finished the blog with some adults as well:-).  You’ll notice a theme with the white backdrops quite often.  I’ve collected a really fun collection of beautiful children set against a clean white backdrop.  Love it.  Enjoy.

And a strong finish with cute little face that no one can resist.

These blogs brought to by the support of wonderful commentors just like yourself:-).

Bellingham Family Photography II

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

October and November were a whirl wind of portrait, family and newborn sessions mixed in with being on the road a few times and other wild craziness so I missed on doing some serious blogging.  So I wanted to do some highlights from some of the shoots that didn’t make the blog.  We have had such a great time with these families and friends.  Enjoy!

How adorable is little Gwen?

I had a blast doing some photos of Gehrig at his soccer game.  I definitely saw some Tony in him, especially in that second shot.

Welcome Colton Daniel – Maternity Photography

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

It seems like a strange way for things to happen, but Meg, Grant and I met up with Rikki (one of Meg’s co-workers) for a maternity shoot.  Well the odd part is that we knew full well that she was going to be having  this lil fella in two days.  I guess that means we knew how much time we had:).  Rikki was a total trooper and let us take her out into the county for some fun photos.  Congratulations Rikki & Todd and welcome to the world Colt!  Enjoy.

Seriously, who looks this great two days before giving birth.  Way to go Rikki!

Yep, that’s the army crawl.  Because the ‘army crawl’ is the new ‘walking’.  And she had no clue I was approaching because I stayed low:-).

Are you kidding me?  Sa-weet!

Rikki_Photography_0004

Grant has issues with not being the center of attention so he army crawled over to Rikki.  And of course to say hi to Colt, his new buddy.

I’ve been having a blast trying new things with light.  Whether it’s ambient or not.  Here is ambient -

I find that focusing on the client can be totally over-rated.

I am amazed by Meg and how she is developing as a photographer.  It’s fun to watch her break away from what I do and really create her own style and niche.  That’s my wife!
