Jen + Darren – Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Meg and I connected with Jen & Darren for their engagement session.  This is such an exciting time for them!  Not only are they looking to their wedding in April but a lil one arriving in July.  Jen seems to be doing a really great job of relishing in these two exciting events in their life, taking it a day at a time!  They will be having their wedding by the water so we spent some time doing photos that took advantage of Bellingham’s city feel.  And no it’s not spring yet, hmmm.  It’s been so beautiful lately!  We are so excited to be a part of your big day and look forward to watching your beautiful young family grow.  Enjoy this preview!

We felt like we would be doing the gals of the workshop a dis-justice if we didn’t do a jumping photo:-).  I think Jen’s nervous, ha.

Evantide Photography’s Beginner Workshop – Check.

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Meg and I had a blast doing our first workshop this last weekend.  Woods Coffee was a great host and it was very beautiful day to be at Boulevard Park.  We had a few people that weren’t able to make it so it was a small group but it made for a nice balance of teaching and answering specific questions that each of the gals had.  We will be scheduling some more of these classes in the coming months so let us know if you would like to learn how to take your dSLR off of auto.

I shall dub her ‘Model Meg’.

Meg working depth of field.

It’s true, I hide behind my camera:-).

Dealing with shutter speed to freeze me mid air.  Pretty good hops for a big guy, eh?

It was fun to come home and see these Facebook statuses -

Shara -  “Just spent 4 hours of my Saturday attending a photography class put on by Evantide Photography. So excited about what I learned! Things I already knew but never took the time to practice finally “clicked” for me today, plus I learned more great skills.  Best $ I’ve ever spent. I could have stayed all day. Serious…ly. More excited about photography now than I’ve ever been! Thanks so much Aaron and Meg!”

Kim – “Learning more about photography from two talented photographers = great day!”

Naomi – “The workshop was so, so, SO worth it! I learned more in a few hours than I have in a few years. It was put on by Evantide Photography. I am looking forward to doing another training with them some time in the future. No more auto for me, I am going to do my best to stay in manual mode! :)

Thanks ladies!  And remember, if you want to be a part of one of these classes to let us know and we’ll keep you updated!

I had the opportunity to head up north to check out the festivities in Vancouver and take in some Curling matches.  Awesome!  It was a blast.  I was taking it all in so I wasn’t thinking too much about taking photos but here are a few images from Vancouver.  Thanks Eric for thinking of me and letting me tag a long.

I didn’t know what to expect from the crowd at a curling match but they definitely did the wave and exploded with jubilance when the Canadian ladies laid the hammer down on the Japanese ‘four’.

I know the weather started out pretty rough for these games but it’s been pretty amazing since!

2009 In Weddings and What Looks Like Our Top 100

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Okay these next few blog posts are a reflection on the last year.  As far as weddings are concerned, it was an amazing ‘09.  We started the wedding season in Maui while Meg was still pregnant and ended it in Phoenix with an 8 month old.  How fun is that.  Oh and we shot so many amazing weddings in between in the amazingly beautiful Pacific Northwest!  I have to be honest, that keeping this blog post at less than 200 photos was hard but to keep it to under 25 was a rough task.  I am unbelievably excited about this coming year and all the amazing clients but this one’s for all of you from this last year.  Thanks to everyone who made 2009 spectactular for us!  Enjoy.

2009 In Self Shooting:-)

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Meg has a knack for capturing me at funny times during shoots.  Just because I like showing the ladies my posing prowess (no really, I’ll literally show them).  While I just get photos of Meg all cute and hard at work.  My New Years resolution is to capture Meg ‘workin it’.  Enjoy.

This is one of my faves.  Thanks for snaggin’ this Meg.

Santa Photo – Week Two

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

This last weekend we did week two of Santa photos with Industrial Credit Union.  I know I’ve said it before but how cool is it that they offer this free to the community?  I love it.  And as a side note, if your kiddo got photo with Santa, you can pick up your photo at the branch where the photo was taken.

One of the things I love about doing these images is getting to see so much many people from the community and gaining context to them as a family.  Here are a few highlights from the more than 300 children we photographed on Saturday.

Julie and Matt had the privilege of holding the title of youngest visitor to see Santa at 8 and half days old.  Don’t tell them but a four day old came in later, but it was a good run Carter.

I love how enthralled Clara was in Santa, these two are so adorable!

Not that Colton can be out done by his outfit but some of the kiddos were so stinkin cute in their get-ups.

These next two photos exude – ‘Dude, I’m in Santa’s lap, how awesome is that?’

So many of the little ones couldn’t help but snuggle into Santa’s soft jacket.  Elliot was so happy.

This amazing family of seven made visiting Santa their first official adventure out as a crew.  Shannon and Nate were blessed with these two lil twins the week of Thanksgiving.  How adorable are they?

Last week we have Grants photo taken with Santa.  So we decided to have a family photo taken this time.  We still can’t get over how stinkin cute Grant is!

Working at our wedding –

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

It’s been fun hearing from lots of couples that are getting engaged as they are checking out our services.  It got me thinking about our wedding day.  We only worked for a short time on our wedding day (2 self takes:-).  My uncle got this shot of us doing a quick self take during the ceremony.  Still love it!  If you are getting married and or know someone that is.  You should definitely tell them about Evantide Photography, our 2010 wedding season is shaping up well.  We’re so excited for the coming year and to see what God has in store!

By the way, Evantide has a pretty big announcement coming in the next couple of days.  It’s going to change the face of Evantide Photography (literally, we’ll be prettier:).  We’re stoked to share.
